As you know, the Obama Administration’s Inaugural National Drug Control Strategy was released on May 10. The Strategy is a comprehensive and balanced strategy of prevention, treatment, and enforcement. A key element in the Strategy is decreasing drugged driving.
The National Highway Safety Administration (part of the US Department of Transportation) conducted a National Roadside Survey in 2007. For the first time, the Roadside Survey tested for the presence of drugs in drivers. The Survey found that 11% of weekend, nighttime drivers tested positive for the presence of illicit drugs. You play an important role in educating parents and their children about the importance of sober driving.
