GangNet

The GangNet Intelligence System (GIS) is a regional gang intelligence database, provided at no charge by the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA to law enforcement, corrections officials, and prosecutors within the Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia area. GangNet provides access to timely sharing of gang intelligence information in an effor to prevent and control crime while abiding by the privacy and constitutional rights of individuals. Map Products and Analysis

The mission of the W/B HIDTA is to improve interagency collaboration, promote the sharing of accurate and timely information and intelligence, and provide specialized training and other resources to W/B HIDTA participating law enforcement and treatment/criminal justice agencies. This will enhance their ability to provide superior services and meet their performance targets. Through its state-of-the-art Investigative Support Center, its highly trained and skilled professional staff will utilize the HIDTA Performance Management Process to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the W/B HIDTA initiatives throughout the W/B HIDTA region and, when practical, in other areas of the country. The aim of the initiatives is to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations and money laundering operations, prosecute traffickers, and seize their drugs and profits.

What Can I Do?

The Maryland Gangs Information and Prevention website allows citizens to anonymously report suspected gang activity. Go to the website at www.gangs.umd.edu and select the "Report Gang Activity" tab located on the left side of the Maryland Gangs home page. Simply fill in the form and submit. The form is sent anonymously to the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA. Staff members review the submission and forward all information to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
