GANG INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM

The Gang Intelligence System (GIS) is a regional database that provides assistance in sharing gang related information and intelligence to federal, state and local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia. A “person oriented” database and investigative application, the GIS is designed to enhance the sharing of timely information on gang members and affiliates. The GIS is a 28 CFR Part 23 compliant system governed by the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA Executive Board. There is no cost to the agency to participate in the GIS.

WATCH CENTER

The Watch Center is responsible for providing tactical, operational and strategic intelligence support to the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA region that includes Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia. The Watch Center operates Monday-Friday from 0800-1800 hours daily. Requests can be submitted to the Watch Center in person, by email, fax or phone. The Watch Center is staffed by professionally trained analysts as well as law federal, state and local enforcement representatives from the region. Any federal, state or local law enforcement officer may apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) needed for the Watch Center’s services and all law enforcement members in the region are encouraged to submit their operational events to the Watch Center for deconfliction.

CRIME MAPPING UNIT

The Washington/Baltimore HIDTA (W/B HIDTA) Crime Mapping Unit supports the participating agencies, internal W/B HIDTA initiatives as well as other law enforcement agencies in the W/B HIDTA region with sophisticated crime mapping and analysis services. Its staff utilizes the latest developments in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and cutting-edge geographic analysis techniques, with existing crime related databases to help law enforcement agencies achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in their enforcement efforts.
