Programs
of the Washington Baltimore HIDTA
Law
Enforcement
A
mixture of Federal, state and local law enforcement from over
40 different agencies work together in these initiatives,
which are collocated in four sites across the region. Information
Center collects, analyzes and disseminates information on
drug and weapons trafficking to support HIDTA initiatives.
Treatment
Based upon the continued threat that the criminal justice population presents, specifically the high volume of crimes this population commits, the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (W/B HIDTA) continues its strategy to combine a public safety approach with a public health approach. The mission of the W/B HIDTA’s Treatment/Criminal Justice initiatives is to disrupt the demand for illegal drugs by supporting a coordinated system of supervision and treatment services targeted at reducing recidivism among hard-core drug offenders.
Prevention
Provides
administrative assistance, program coordination and evaluation
for three HIDTA prevention initiatives. Prevention initiatives
include law enforcement partnerships participating at operational
and policy-making levels.
Investigative Support Center
Serves
as a hub for the collection, analysis and dissemination of
law enforcement intelligence information. Assists the region's
law enforcement agencies with targeting, investigating and
prosecuting individuals and organizations involved in drug
trafficking, money laundering and weapons trafficking.
W/B
HIDTA Administration
Provides
administrative support and financial services to the Director,
HIDTA staff, and Law Enforcement, Treatment and Prevention
initiatives to ensure accountability of resources in compliance
with the Office of National Drug Control Policys (ONDCP)
program guidance.
