Treatment/Criminal Justice Program

PROGRAM ORGANIZATION

The Treatment/Criminal Justice Supervision Committee is a standing committee of the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA). The Committee is chaired by an elected member of a participating jurisdiction for one year. The committee consists of representatives from each participating jurisdiction in the treatment and criminal justice disciplines. In each local jurisdiction, a W/B HIDTA operational workgroup is responsible for implementing the seamless system. The committee has undertaken a theme of "Quality of Treatment and Supervision" with an emphasis on improving the delivery of treatment and supervision services to offenders.

The Treatment/Criminal Justice Committee meets quarterly to further the development of the seamless system concepts in each of the projects. The structure allows for subcommittees to be formed addressing issues as they occur. Currently, there is one active subcommittee:

User Group
: The mission of the User Group Subcommittee is to identify topic areas relevant to the seamless system that will enhance the level of skill and knowledge for staff participating in the project and advance the implementation of different concepts. Training is provided to staff in order to equip them to support the goals of the seamless system. HIDTA has provided staff training in:

  • Integrating Treatment and Supervision Goals
  • Strategic Planning
  • Data Entry, for the W/B HIDTA Evaluation Process Requirements
