Computer training is a service provided by the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (W/B HIDTA) to HIDTA staff, initiatives and participating agencies. The purpose of the training is to increase computer literacy, and to promote the use of the Case Explorer software product.

2009 Catalog

 

The 2010 Computer Training Catalog is available for download with Course Descriptions and Registration Form among other Computer Training information.

All courses are instructor led and are designed to be interactive. Hands-on exercises are a part of each course. These exercises are intended to help trainees apply the knowledge gained in training to their professional duties.

In order to cover the cost of reproducing the training materials, a fee will be charged to training participants for each training manual they wish to purchase. Cash or checks payable to the University of Maryland are accepted. Receipts will be issued in class so that participants can obtain reimbursement through their local agency.

The Law Enforcement Program sponsors a number of training programs throughout the year to assist law enforcement personnel in the Washington/Baltimore region in developing and updating their investigative and analytical skills. Training is offered at basic and advanced levels on a wide range of topics, including:

  • specialized investigative techniques (such as financial or undercover investigation)
  • interview and interrogation skills
  • and issues related to drug trafficking investigations.

For information on the W/B HIDTA’s computer training programs, please refer to the Computer Training Center’s page. The Training Coordinator can provide a list of upcoming training programs and work with agencies to arrange training opportunities on special topics.
