
Police seize drugs from vape shops in 3 towns
The Virginia State Police announced Tuesday that agents last week seized more than $100,000 in THC-related products in an operation targeting vape stores in Shenandoah County.
The state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in the drug enforcement section at the Culpeper Field Office, along with assistance by the Woodstock Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Department of Homeland Security executed five search warrants on Jan. 20 at tobacco and vape novelty stores in Edinburg, Strasburg and Woodstock, according to a state police media release.
Task force officers seized 39,403 grams of THC based products valued at $117,092, 430 grams of Psilocybin valued at $16,340, 500 grams of Khat valued at $2,550, two firearms and $103,371.50 in U.S. currency, the release states.
No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing, Matthew Demlein, public relations coordinator for the state police said in an email Tuesday.
The Northwest Virginia Drug and Gang Task Force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from the Clarke, Frederick, Page, Warren, and Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Departments, Front Royal, Luray, Strasburg, and Winchester Police Departments, and the Virginia State Police. The Northwest Virginia Regional Drug and Gang Task Force is a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area-funded initiative.
