OJJDP’s National Gang Center Offers Free Registration for the “Introduction to the Comprehensive Gang Model” Webinar

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s (OJJDP) National Gang Center is offering a free webinar, “Introduction to the Comprehensive Gang Model,” to community organizations, local government leaders, law enforcement officials, and other stakeholders in communities impacted by youth gangs on April 15th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. The webinar will introduce partcipants to OJJDP’s multidisciplinary Comprehensive Gang Model (CGM) and its five core strategies – social intervention, community mobilization, suppression, opportunities provision, and organizational change and development. There will also be a Q&A session to address questions for those interested in the Model.

Following the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the benefits of a comprehensive approach to criminal gang reduction.
  • Articulate the five core strategies of the Comprehensive Gang Model.
  • Identify additional resources available to help with strategy implementation.
  • Begin the development of a process for implementing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary gang reduction strategy.

This is the first presentation in the “Addressing Gangs” webinar series, which will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the process for implementing a comprehensive gang reduction strategy in their communities, as well as practical guidance and resources.
