Online Training

The Washington/Baltimore HIDTA provides online training to agencies and initiatives operating within the W/B HIDTA region. This includes the required Case Explorer Entire Program – ONLINE Self-Paced Course, which is necessary to obtain a Case Explorer account.

To complete the steps necessary for a Case Explorer account, please follow the below. For the required forms and training links, contact aleinemann@wb.hidta.org.

Step 1: Complete the 2025 Registration Form.

Step 2: Complete the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA) Criminal Intelligence Systems Operating Policies online training (28 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] Part 23).

  • After completing the BJA online training, email your BJA 28 CFR Part 23 Online Training Completion Certificate along with your 2025 Registration Form to aleinemann@wb.hidta.org.

Step 3: Enroll in the Case Explorer Entire Program – ONLINE Self-Paced Course through the National HIDTA Assistance Center (NHAC) learning management system (also known as HOTT or MOODLE).

Note: The online course is listed once per quarter and remains accessible throughout.  Although the course takes only a few hours to complete, it must be finished within the same quarter. If not, you’ll need to re-enroll for the next quarter.  All training certificates will be issued by NHAC upon course completion.

  1. Enter the word Class (case sensitive) for Username = Class and Password = Class
  2. Select Washington – Baltimore
  3. Select Click to view Training Events link
  4. Select the course you want to register for
  5. Case Explorer, GangNet and other courses that might be held in the future (TBA)
  6. There may be multiple events scheduled with the same name. Be sure to select the event using the date to indicate the proper event.
  7. Fill in the HOTT Online Application
  8. Select Complete Registration

All of the required paperwork is emailed to you as soon as your enrollment has been approved.
